Anthony Bennett: That sounds so formal, only my mom called me that, please call me Tony. That’s right Tony Bennett -  and no I didn’t leave my heart in San Francisco and you would definitely not want to hear me sing.
Together with my wife Bee I am an Entrepreneur and Internet Marketer with a business that ranges from investing in silver and gold to colon therapy, from Smoking Cessation to Angry Birds.

From the age of eleven I spent many hours pumping gas and fixing flats at my dads gas station. I hated it, the cold, the grease and dirt! so instead I trained as a chef.   The heat the grease and the dirt …………..Doh!

Ten jobs and ten years later I quit the corporate world to become a partner in a fledgling catering business. That business flourished and for nearly a decade it seemed we could do nothing wrong.  For seven years we had the Midas touch.

Anthony Bennett – Entrepreneurial  Success Came Early

There was a brief time in the late 1970′s, when I was in my thirties, that I had a fabulous  income and was a share holder in a company which we had built up from 10 to 1200 employees in just 7 years. Capitalizing on the 70′s oil boom we grew from a small local service provider to be an international company with factories in the Middle East as well as catering outlets throughout the UK.

If you added up my assets in 1980, two beautiful houses, two flash cars, a boat, kids in private school and my share of the company it easily topped a million (and with a million in 1980 you had pretty much ‘made it!) but strangely it wasn’t the money that motivated me, it was the challenge.

When success came I was acutely uncomfortable with the trappings of wealth, exhausted by the work  pattern and weighed down by the responsibility it brought with it.  Worse, as the financial rewards started to escalate way and beyond the effort I was putting in ,  too much too quickly, I began to feel guilty,  I was well off but I didn’t think I deserved it!  Doh!

How I wish some of the training available now had been around then, as it was I squandered a fabulous opportunity to be ‘set for life.’

Hindsight is a wonderful filter

Of course I hadn’t then studied the human mind.  In another change of direction in 2004 I qualified as Anthony Bennett – clinical hypnotherapist and psychotherapist and I soon realised what had happened for me back then and how the strategies I now know could have been used to get a very different result.

Bee and I write about our work as Hypnotherapists, Psychotherapists and NLP practitioners helping people improve confidence and performance in our blog The Life Design Studio. Before I learned these things I didn’t have the right mindset,  my British middle class background  had given me some very destructive hang ups about rich people, money and wealth.  It wasn’t long before I self sabotaged myself and returned to a more ‘normal’ and much less prosperous life style.

Actually working in a 9-5 job isn’t all bad, I held senior positions in multi-national companies and enjoyed chopping and changing with promotions, redundancies and being headhunters from one company to another.

Regrets?

Regrets are not part of my psyche these days – whatever  has happened has been ‘perfect’ because it has led to where I am today. I actually like to reinvent myself every five years and enjoy variety in my work. I am especially enjoying the challenge of  building an internet marketing business.

Trading time for money will never make you rich.

It’s an unfortunate fact that, unless you are the chairman of a multi national investment bank, working for other people doesn’t often lead to great fortunes.  Even working for yourself doesn’t do that if  you just swap an hour of your time for an hours pay.

It was late in my life before I realised that the key to a prosperous old age isn’t a secure job or a great pension plan the key to a happy relaxed and prosperous life  is developing a passive or residual income.  That means doing a job once and then getting paid for it time after time after time.  Classic examples are  royalties from books or songs or selling insurance policies which people renew year after year.

You have that opportunity – Start Today

Today the opportunity is available to everyone using the infinite resources of the Internet.  My new career is Affiliate Marketing and I am excited not only by the capacity it affords me to earn unlimited income but also the ability it offers to help thousands and thousands of others to achieve their dreams.

The sooner the better you start the better

I am 66 now, some might think that is a little late to be thinking about your pension and it is!  Whatever your age now start building your passive income at once – who knows – you may be able to retire a few years from now while every option is available to you. Just like a pension the earlier you start the better.

We are all unique exciting individuals  – everyone of us has our own ideas and strengths!

It’s never too late!  I believe that five years part-time work will ensure that the rest of my life will be devoted to enjoying the fruits of my labours.

You don’t need to be a news hound to know that the financial world is in turmoil. Rumours abound that the dollar may be devalued and the shock wave from that will be felt across the globe.
